WELCOME TO OSLOPractical information
Passport
Passports are checked at
the airport entering the country, and are
usually asked for in hotels. Participants
requiring visa to Norway, please consult
the foreign ministry’s home page.
Currency
The official currency is
Norwegian kroner, NOK. Money can easily
be exchanged at the airport or at ATMs
outside banks in Oslo. Credit cards are
accepted everywhere.
Transportation
The OSL airport at
Gardermoen is where international flights
arrive. It is located 20 minutes from the
centre of Oslo and can be reached by
Airport Express Train every 10 minutes,
slower (and cheaper) trains and buses as
well. In the centre of Oslo there is easy access
by taxis, buses and street cars.
Accommodation
We have selected
hotels in the centre of Oslo within walking
distance of the different Congress activities.
There will be several proposals for
diverse budgets and preferences.
Joint Technical Symposium
The
topic for the symposium is DIGITAL CHALLENGES
AND DIGITAL OPPORTUNITIES IN AUDIOVISUAL ARCHIVING.
JTS has its own web site where you can
look for updates.
Logistics
Delegates attending the Congress
will have access to computers at the
Congress Centre at the National Library.
There will be Internet computers, Wi-Fi
access, fax facilities, printers etc.
Simultaneous Translation
The
activities of the JTS and the General Assembly
will have simultaneous translation
into the three official languages of FIAF,
English, French and Spanish.
