CFA have informed us that the first batch of invitation letters have finally been sent to the first 65 delegates who registered for the Congress. Letters to the other delegates will be sent shortly. Copies of these letters were also sent to the Embassy or Consulate where delegates are supposed to apply for a visa. When you obtain an appointment for your visa, please don’t forget to take your copy of the invitation letter with you. IF you have not received your visa application form from Feng Bo you should contact him immediately at fengbo@birtv.com. For any other question contact the Secretariat at info@fiafnet.org

CFA has announced that there will be a choice of two excursions for delegates on Thursday 26 April. You will have the opportunity either to combine visits of the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, or to visit the China National Film Museum, the Beijing Film Vault (CFA’s film vault in Beijing) and the State Production Base of China Film Group. Our Congress hosts have also generously decided to invite all delegates who are interested to a Peking Opera performance on 24 April in the evening. Further details to follow soon.

Once you have sent your registration form to Feng Bo, you should receive another form from him asking for your passport details. Please fill this in and email / fax it back immediately so that China Film Archive can prepare your invitation letter. You will receive it within 7 working days.

Michael’s House (one of the four hotels on the list) is now full, so please do not choose this one when you register and fill in your hotel booking form.

We encourage you to register for the Congress and book your trip as quickly as possible, as flight tickets are getting more expensive, and the visa procedure can be lengthy (don’t forget that you need an official letter from CFA to obtain your visa, but that letter can’t be sent to you until you have returned your filled-in forms).

We also remind you that the right to vote in the Beijing General Assembly is indeed restricted to archives which have sent their annual report to the Secretariat by 28 February, and paid their annual affiliate fee for 2011 (Rule 33 of the Statues and Rules).
